Lynchpin Productions of Los Angeles contacted Digital Studios West to provide Jib Arm, Grip, and crew for the TV show The Outdoor Room with Jamie Durie. DSW arranged their equipment truck along with crew and set up to support this part of the shoot. The Outdoor Room is one of Australia’s top-rated television programs, and host Jamie Durie also appears on Australia’s Best Backyards, and Backyard Blitz– for which he received the Logie award for “Most Popular Male Talent”  as well as six consecutive Logie awards for “Most Popular Lifestyle Program”. He also hosts America’s longest running gardening program-The Victory Garden, which airs on PBS and appears regularly on The Oprah Winfrey Show offering gardening advice and inspiration.

Paul Sadler and Jeff McCoy set out on a Thursday morning at 10am to a location in the Hollywood Hills to be ready for their call-time. That day was a scorcher with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. The task that day was to capture the after-shot of a beautifully landscaped backyard that set up on a bluff in the famous Hollywood Hills. Jamie Durie and his masterful team of landscapers turned this modest piece of land into an incredible South Western influenced oasis. With an adobe style mud-hut center stage surrounded by unique and eye-catching plants and decor, this show-piece backyard was stunning.

DSW’s crew call-time came a little later than expected, which meant they had to work extra fast to get all the  shots to please the client. Paul Sadler and Jeff McCoy went into game mode and had the Jib, Camera, and 24″ HD monitor set up with camera rolling less than 10 minutes after call. The guys were able to capture some one-of-a-kind shots from this spectacular setting. Mr. Sadler can be quoted as saying, ” It can be a little tricky working with a new client when you have such limited time, but the Directors and Producers of this show made it easy to do what we do best and that is to create some fantastic looking shots. We finished last shots just as the sun set, and filmed some of the best stuff I’d like to think… We’ll see when the show aires. It was a pleasure working with these guys and I hope we get the chance to do it again”.
