Mikasa Beijing Bowl – Gold Medalist

MFP_5195In November 2008, Digital Studios West was hired to provide video coverage of the men and women’s volleyball, and water polo teams for an event tilted: The Beijing Bowl. This event was sponsored by the sports equipment company Mikasa Sports USA, and was in honor of all the medalist from the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The US had received a total of 36 gold medals and a grand total of 110 metals in all during these Olympics.

The event took place in Irvine Ca at STRIKE bowling alley. Digital Studios camera crew showed up an hour before the event and started covering behind the scenes. The event was quite impressive with Micasa decor and equipment everywhere. Outside was a giant inflatable with banners, and inside the event you could see everything from vats of training balls, to streaming video throughout the alley, as well as some pretty tasty food.

As soon as the event was on its way, the interior filled up with medalists almost immediately. Gold medalist Todd Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) from the mens volleyball team were amongst some of these top athletes who were present at this event. DSW captured footage of athletes throughout the night. Everything from some pretty inventive bowling techniques, autograph signings, and just your general mingling was captured. By 11pm it was time to say goodnight to the cameras and the DSW crew was on its way back home from another exciting shoot. Thank you Mikasa!
