California-to-Nashville transplant, Nick Ashton, chose Digital Studios West, Inc., Inc. to produce his recent music video, “Simple Country Life.”
The Orange County singer-songwriter and Kirtland Records recording artist, whose influences range from Crosby Stills Nash & Young, to Al Dimeola and Rush, calls his sound "West Coast country," and that down home shoe seems to fit as well as any. He notes that his style likely owes much to the country-tinged rock of the Eagles and country-folk of America and John Denver.
Pre-production of this 35mm film music video was initiated at DSW’s Orange County California studios before the company traveled to Miami Florida for a whirlwind casting session, and location scouting.
The creative team of Director Paul Sadler and Director of Photography Jeff McCoy, set up shop at Miami’s Delano Hotel and began their work immediately.

Enduring 14-hour castings, location checks, and endless production meetings, they completed the last of the pre-production.
Location Scout David Egan, with the assistance of the Miami Dade Film Commissioner’s Office and, DSW was able to successfully orchestrate this production to take place in six locations over a 3-day period.
Although Florida was beginning a season of hurricanes, remarkably, everything went smoothly and the weather cooperated in spite of the 16-hour shooting days. Interestingly, the day after the shoot wrapped, winds and rain showed up in force.
Returning to Orange County, DSW booked telecine, and the film went from camera to editing suite within a few days. Nick Ashton stayed with the team through post production.

“Simple Country Life” video had its premiere at the Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine, CA. in front of thousands of fans during KZLA’s Country Bash and it has been scheduled to broadcast on CMT, GAC, and VH1.
With any luck, the talented singer-songwriter-guitarist will be the next country star to emerge out of Southern California, placing him in the strong company of La Mirada’s, Gary Allan and Los Angeles’s, Jennifer Hanson.
